Sultry European pornstar goddess of the 1990s Angelica Bella is often imagined to be Italian by fans of the bevy of raunchy X-rated movies she made out of Italy, but she is in fact of Hungarian descent, being one of the first true porn superstars to emerge from the east after the fall of the Iron Curtain. She was born in Tisalok, Hungary, on 15 February 1970 and was discovered in Budapest in 1991 by the adult director Nils Molitor who had been provided low cost sets by Majfilm, the Hungarian national film corporation. Angelica was one of 12 girls sent along to him by a local casting agency, and at the time was using her real name Gabriella. Molitor was captivated by her stunning looks and 36D-24-36 natural figure, immediately giving her star billing for two X-rated videos in which she used the alias Katy Kay. Molitor took her back to Germany with him, where she starred in another half a dozen quickly made movies.

Legendary Italian adult director Mario Salieri came calling not long after and persuaded Angelica, who by then was using the pseudonym Gabriella Dari, to sign an exclusive contract for adult production company Tecnica Cinenatografica. Salieri guessed right that she would prove a huge hit with first the Italian, then a larger worldwide audience. By the early 1990s, heavy promotional campaigns and public appearances saw Angelica Bella right up there alongside Cicciolina and Moana Pozzi as a legend of Italian porn cinema. Crews she worked with nicknamed her 'The Animal' because of the unabandoned passion in which she seemed to throw herself in to sex scenes. And Angelica developed a trademark ending to many of her films, in which the camera would invariably zoom in to a long-lingering shot of her beautiful, beaming face usually dripping with the salty cum-splattered evidence of her last passion-pumped scene.

Angelica Bella made a few brief excursions in the early 1990s to the States, making a couple of Anal Europe titles among others, which helped her pick up the 1993 Hot D'Or - Best European Actress award. But she returned quite quickly to Europe again, where she rapidly became the most popular pornstar in Italy after the retirement of Cicciolina in 1992 and the death of Moana Pozzi in 1994. By 1997, working almost exclusively with Italian director Canyon Grande, Angelica was restricting her work only to lesbian scenes with fellow Hungarian star Veronica Bella, who some wrongly rumoured was her sister. She retired from the porn scene in 1998 for a couple of years, but did make a comeback in 2000, working with Canyon Grande again until her supposed final retirement in 2007. She remains one of the most beautiful and legendary stars ever to emerge from the European porn scene. She can found in films under many aliases, inclduing Katy Kay, Kathy Kay, Keti Kay, Kitty Kay, Gabriela Dari, Gabriella Dari, Gabriella Jankov and Gabriella Kovacs.
